Psychological Fitness

Psychological fitness is one of the core counseling dispostions that I abide by in my clinical practice. Psychological fitness ensures that the counselor is aware of their own mental, physical and emotional well being. Being psychologically fit ensyres that the counselor will develop healthy professional relationships with peers, supervisors and clients while continuing their work in the mental health field.

Well-being, and Self-care

As a counselor-in-training, I recognize the importance of modeling mental wellness and professional self-awareness for my clients. This means remaining mindful of my own emotional responses, particularly when experiencing stress or negative emotions that could influence my clinical work. To uphold my commitment to ethical practice and client care, I will seek individual therapy when appropriate, especially when personal triggers, biases, or unresolved values emerge in the counseling process. I also understand the importance of monitoring for signs of impairment and addressing them proactively through personal therapy, clinical supervision, and peer support to ensure I remain effective, grounded, and fully present for those I serve.

Holistic Wellness

As a counselor, I value mental well-being through a holistic lens, recognizing that the body, mind, and spirit are deeply interconnected. When one area is neglected, overall wellness can be affected. Because of this, I support clients in developing healthy, sustainable practices that nurture their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This may include encouraging mindfulness-based movement, healthy sleep habits, balanced nutrition, connection to spiritual or faith-based support systems when appropriate, effective stress management strategies, and creative forms of self-expression. My goal is to help clients build a well-rounded foundation that supports healing, growth, and long-term wellness.
